If listening to podcasts and reading self-help books alone could solve deep-seated insecurities, anxieties and
relationship woos, wouldn’t we all be thriving by now?
Seriously, my bookshelf alone would have sorted me out.
I love a good deep dive into relationship topics, mental health and personal growth. A thought-provoking podcast is stimulating, a book that gives a different perspective can shift how I see and understand things.
And yet, have you found yourself nodding along to all the wisdom, feeling inspired – only to fall back into the same relationship patterns as before? Yeah, me too.
That’s because some of our trickiest struggles aren’t just about knowing better. They’re about experiencing something different—like having someone who can truly sit with us, challenge us, and support us in ways we might have been missing all along.
The experience of someone being there with you, unconditionally. Someone who doesn’t need you to be any different than you are, who doesn’t try to fix or change you.
Feeling safe, seen and heard whilst in relation with someone else, is a deep and transformative experience, that will open you to more intimacy in your relationships.
Podcasts and books? Great tools. But real transformation? That usually happens in connection—with a therapist, coach, or someone who can hold space for the messy, unpolished, figuring-it-out version of you.
So, if you’re like me, keep learning, keep exploring—but don’t be hard on yourself if information alone isn’t enough. Some things just need real human connection to shift.
