Why traditional talk therapy hasn’t worked for you.

Traditional talk therapy is great. You get to tell your story – maybe for the first time – to someone who truly listens. Together you get to make sense of things in your life that may not have made sense at all up til now.

You have someone with you who is unconditionally there for you, in your corner, which you may not have experienced before either.

And it can be a great sounding board,  a space to be heard and understood.

And yet, I often work with clients who, despite benefiting from talk therapy in many ways, still feel that something hasn’t fully shifted.

That talking about what happened, whether in the past or present, hasn’t resolved certain behaviours or emotions or patterns.

Attuning to your inner world

In somatic or embodied practices, we create space for more than just words and thoughts. We tune into your inner world – your emotions, body sensations, and the subconscious responses that arise as you talk about a certain issue.

By bringing mindful attention to these internal sensations, we go deeper, exploring what’s beneath the surface. We begin to see how you relate to these experiences, what meaning they hold, and how they may be shaping your patterns in ways that thinking alone can’t access.

This approach allows the deeper, more hidden internal dilemmas and conflicts to come to light – making you aware of what truly drives your behaviours and emotions. Instead of just understanding things intellectually, you begin to experience shifts from within.

Bringing awareness to these sensations also helps build your internal capacity to be with difficult emotions rather than feeling overwhelmed by them This internal capacity is key – it supports your ability to attend to your core needs and move towards healing.

As these internal capacities develop, we can experience greater self-regulation, a sense of inner organisation, expansion and aliveness. And that’s where the real change begins.
